What are we ?

The Devangar Higher Secondary School provides holistic education to students encompassing different spheres of learning that helps them nurture the leader within. With a vast experience of 70+ Years, has garnered a strong gamut to become one of the best schools in India. The greatest strength of the school springs from the quality of the human relationships throughout the community and the sense of companionship that these engender. The School has the aim of inculcating love and human fraternity while providing holistic education to meet the needs of both individual and society. The full schooling environment encourages a strong sense of community and helps to develop friendships. All that happens in the school and outside and events of the past and present are transformed into a learning experience.

What do we do ?

Novel and creative means of imparting curriculum is used to keep the learner curious and interested. Curriculum is made vibrant by the active involvement of the students in Project Work, Experiments and other assignment works. Efforts are made to replenish teaching, learning and evaluating strategies. Audio-visuals and most latest technologies are put to optimum use.

Many co-curricular activities are planned in literary, cultural, games and sports to knock, nurture and develop talents to a level of excellence, keeping the students highly motivated. We work in partnership with parents, based upon agreed values which support the well-being of the boys.

In DHSS we provide quality education. As a result in Public exams our teachers has produced more than 95% result with good marks. We've placed our school as District Topper both in Curricular & Co-Curricular activities. We've planted hundreds of trees & maintaining them regularly in our school campus.

The working week at DHSS is Monday to Friday and weekends offer a rich programme of structured activities, social occasions and other recreational opportunities.

School Infrastructure

School Campus

The campus has an indoor stadium measuring around 40,000 Sq. ft. with an extravagant and welcoming ambience in a 2-story building. We've equipped our campus with centralized Reverse Osmosis system, serving purified drinking water to students.

Classrooms

We have spacious digitized classrooms with 6 x 4 feet specially designed smart boards. Each class accommodating between 30 to 40 number of students.

Library

The DHSS Library has been well equipped with old and latest publications of books. It has been re-stocked in recent years and the school is committed to ongoing investment in print books and digital technology such as e-book sources and resources. The library stocks a collection of 2000 years old Tamizh literatures (Tholkaappiyam, Pathupaattu, Ettuthogai, Padhinenkeelkanakku). The library has been designed to provide students with a quiet and purposeful atmosphere for study and intellectually creative thought.

Science Department

The school has well equipped facilities to teach the three separate sciences, Biology, Chemistry and Physics. The school has Labs for all the science streams (Physics, Chemistry and Biology) in the Higher Secondary School and a General Science Lab for High School students.

Computer Labs

DHSS believes in providing the best possible opportunities to its students as well as faculty to ensure consistent eminence. IT infrastructure includes a computer laboratory and smart classroom each equipped with advanced technologies.

Games & Sports Facilities

The school has acres of pitches as well as multiple volleyball, basketball and badminton courts. And well maintained gym and sports equipments are provided with.

Literary Association

Literary Association was organised in 1981. President and Secretary are elected only from students. Members of Literary Association participate in Elocution, Essay and Poem writing and Singing competitions up to national level and had won many dignified awards.

Design and Technology

The school has well equipped facilities to teach the boys the latest innovation in terms of technology and design within the main building. Institutional devices like Audio-Visual aids are also provided to students in order to train them to communicate more efficiently.

Co-Curricular Activities

The school prepares students to be confident, develop leadership skills and gain knowledge in all walks of life through NCC, JRC and Scouts units.

Milestones in our Infrastructure

22 Feb 1962 - Classrooms has been constructed and inaugurated by N.Soundarajan (Soundaraja Mills)

18 Feb 1963 – Mr. P.A.S. Bomman Chettiar memorial NCC building sponsored by Mrs.Kechammal has been inaugurated by Hon’ble Ex. Chief Minister Mr.M.Bakthavatsalam.

4 Dec 1966 – Additional classrooms (currently used as Physics lab) has been constructed and inaugurated by Mr.S.Vellaichaami Nadar

16 Nov 1965 – Foundation stone laid for additional classrooms and stage by Hon’ble Ex. Chief Minister Mr.M.Bakthavatsalam.

21 Sep 1975 - Science lab and playground stage sponsored by Devangar Educational Association has been constructed and inaugurated grandly by Hon’ble Ex. Chief Minister Dr.Kalaignar M. Karunanidhi .

28 May 1999 – Anna art gallery has been constructed and inaugurated

7 Feb 2003 – 3 additional classrooms sponsored by Devangar Educational Association has been constructed and inaugurated by Mrs.K.Thangamaari M.A.,B.Ed., (then C.E.O.,, Dindigul).

4 Jul 2005 – Newly built Computer studies building sponsored by K.S.S. Family has been inaugurated by Mrs.R.Shanmugavadivu M.A., M.Ed., (then D.E.O., Dindigul)

2018 – Late Mr.Motor Krishnasaami memorial Secretary office building sponsored by Mr.A.Krishnsaami Family has been constructed and inaugrated.

2019 – Vidhya Ganapathi Temple has been consecrated and First floor classrooms in main building has been constructed and inaugurated.

We are proud to introduce our Assistant Headmaster V. Murugesan M.A.,B.Ed. Apart from teaching he has been indulging with many social service activities, out of which, short film making, planting trees, preparing students to dramatically perform in various state level events gets him special credit. He has been awarded with 'State Best Teacher' in 2018, 'Latchiya Aasiriyar - by Dinamalar' in 2018, 'Kalvipani Semmal - by Tanjore Vallalar Arakkatalai' in 2017. His short film uploaded to youtube 'Anithavin Kanavu By VM' has crossed 10 million+ views and brought him recognition.
